In the final day of the ECREA 2014 conference, the keynote speaker Christian Fuchs, from the University of Westminster, was interviewed after his presentation on the plenary session by Daniel Cardoso, from Lusófona University. He spoke about his vision regarding the media and the capitalism, mostly his vision about the corporation ownership of news media. Fuchs also talked about the activism in social media and the economic and political interests in it. About social media alternatives to Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, Fuchs used a pro-nationalizing speech, appealing to the creation of social media sources not controlled by corporations. Lastly, Fuchs referred to the need for alternative forms of socialization, specifying the ecological impact and the capitalism way of fabricate consumables goods, regarding third world countries.
